Bayern Munich Forward Outshines Europe’s Stars
English forward Harry Kane has become the highest-paid player in Europe following the renewal of his contract with Bayern Munich this Thursday.
The club officially announced the extension of Kane’s contract—the player recently honored with the Ballon d’Or as the world’s best footballer for 2026—securing his stay with the Bavarian side until June 2029 and putting an end to speculation regarding his future.
According to reports from Germany, the contract renewal has increased Harry Kane’s weekly wage to a staggering £400,000—a figure believed to be the highest base salary in Europe.
Last season, Kane scored 73 goals in 65 matches for his club and national team, an achievement that earned him the Golden Ball award—placing him ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal—at an awards ceremony held last week in London.
Meanwhile, the England captain has scored 156 goals in 161 matches since joining Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for £86 million.
Kane was approaching the final six months of his contract with Bayern Munich; however, any prospect of a return to the Premier League—where he might have challenged Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record—has now vanished, as he has committed to another three years with the German champions.
Prior to joining Bayern Munich, Kane had never won a major trophy. He has since made up for that over the past two years, securing two Bundesliga titles, a DFB-Pokal (German Cup), and two German Super Cups.
On the international stage, Kane helped lead England to their best World Cup finish since 1966 this summer, with the "Three Lions" securing a bronze-medal equivalent; Kane himself netted six goals in seven appearances for the side managed by Thomas Tuchel.
